Odes to my Bike Shorts

In honor of the nearing school year, which I do not have to attend, I decided to write some haikus to my bike shorts.  Maybe if I am feeling a little crazy after I'm done, I'll throw an extra one on the end, about my running shoes!

Oh, my tight shorts they
made me look, feel fat at the
start. Now I look smart

Oooh, that one was terrible.  My apologies.

AH! The stink you give
When it's been days since last wash
Is terrifying

Really, the smell is something awful, blech!

Running in bike shorts,
not what they're for. But they keep
you running, anyway.

That last one's not quite a haiku, since the last line has six syllables instead of five, but my brain hurts from the coding I've been doing, And I haven't written poetry in awhile, so I'm rusty.

But I hope they made you laugh all the same!

One last one, about my running shoes

Shoes, shoes, shoes, running
puts toes to sleep, til broken
in well. 5K soon.

Bdyah bdyah bdayh, That's all folks!

What is Strong?

"What is strong?"

The answer is so varied.  What do you think is strong?

"Is it muscle?"

I'm not going to pontificate and try and answer it.

"....Or something more?"

I know that there is always more, more that you can give,
more that you can do.  A well of determination to dip into.
I'm trying to keep mine.  I start training for a century ride
(100 miles) on Monday.  We have eight weeks of training
before we rock out this ride.

"Is it measured in miles or milliseconds?"

It's going to take us 6 hours, at least, that's what we expect.
I'm nervous, incredibly so.
128.7499 miles.  It seems so insurmountable.
Lansing to Big Rapids.

"Is it your best time or your worst day?"

But training builds you up slowly, which is exactly what I need.
One turn of the cranks at a time.

".....Maybe strong is just what you have left when you've used up all your weak."

Great commercial by Saucony, a shoe company based in the US and Canada. It is one of the most motivational commercials I have ever seen. I saw it this weekend for the first time while watching the Tour de France. Excellent commercial.

**Authors note: I am not sponsored by Saucony, this post is not, nor is this blog, affiliated in any way with Saucony.  I liked their commercial and decided to write about it.

Important Announcement involving shoeperwoman.com

I read a blogger named Katri from The Cat With Glasses who follows a woman named Amber who styles herself the Shoeperwoman.  She has been actively blogging as Shoeperwoman for a little over two years and has had the domain since 2008.

Now Amber, has run into a problem with another woman named Laura who has knowingly registered Shoeperwoman with .co.uk and has now been trying essentially un-do all the work that Amber and her husband have been working for.  I really hope that this never happens to me, but I also don't anticipate this blog actually being more than an outlet for me.  You know never know, though, so please go give Shoeper Woman some love and read the full scope of the problem.

30 Days of Truth - Day 12: Something You Never Get Compliments On

I don't know!  My shoe size?

That seems a weird thing to be complimented on.

I also never get complimented on my blogging skillz.  But I don't really talk about it a lot either.

I'll edit this post if I can think of anything that I like about myself that I never get compliments on.

Short post.  Hmm....

PIE!

Just checking to make sure you were paying attention! :D

Aaaaaand: Make sure to go vote for The Williamston Theatre at the Pepsi Refresh Project!!
