Pinterest, where have you been all my life?

I recently decided to find out what Pinterest is all about and asked a friend for an invite.

Huge mistake, I am now addicted.  ADDICTED I TELL YOU.  It's such a wonderful way to keep ideas in a fun way.  I don't know about you, but I bookmark stuff in my browser and pretty much forget about it. Like, immediately.  But not only do I go through and pin neat stuff, but I go back and do them.  And, it spurs my own creativity!   I love it!

For example, I have seen a number of re-purposed canvas shoe organizers.  One that was used to hold cleaning supplies and one that someone used to grow an herb garden!  Both of those ideas are so smart and made me start thinking.

My house is 400 square feet.  This is not a joke. So space is prime real estate.  We have kind of been collecting an amalgamation of sorts on top of the spice racks.  Which are on top of the microwave.  Which is on top of the fridge.

This is after I cleaned everything up.  I did not want to unclean it up for a before and after picture, sorry. (Say hi to Adam who's finishing submitting a paper, "Hi Adam!")

After seeing genius re-purposing of shoe organizers, I had a brilliant idea of my own!  We have three doors in our kitchen. One to the back deck, one to the basement and one to the bathroom.  The back of the door to the basement was just sitting there, a blank canvas, waiting to be useful.

So.......

(How do you like the quilt batting shoved into the crack on the right? Keeps it much warmer upstairs!)

Ta-da!

I took anything that was in a random place in the kitchen and put it in here.

All of my Weight Watchers snacks, coffee filters, our asinine amount of tea, equally asinine amount of popcorn and many other things are all neatly labeled and in their spots. I felt so accomplished! Usually, for some reason, I leave my organizational COD at work but I brought it home and I don't want to stop! As full time work still eludes me, I can only do it a little at a time. Also, the basement is not a finished basement. And it's winter. In Michigan.  So it's cold and I don't go down there for long periods at the moment.  But, I will get there, and you will know it when I do!

The floppy pieces of paper are only temporary.  I tried making my own adhesive plastic cases to stick on each pocket, but the contact paper wasn't sticky enough. So tomorrow I am headed to Jo-Ann's coupons in hand (50% off, woo!) to get some thin plastic that I am going to be sewing on so that it's as easy to change the label on the pocket as it is the contents.

I leave you with more pictures of my DIY, of which I am so proud!

A liiiittle closer

Oatmeal!

See? Asinine amounts of popcorn.  And my lunch bag.

Temporary labels fastened with paper clips.

Aaaaand what I came back to find after taking pictures.  Stinker.

If you would like to join me in my addiction, shoot me an email through the contact me link in the side bar.

Love and hugs!

P.S. To all of the traffic coming from sopastrike.com, welcome, and I hope we continue to be successful in shelving SOPA and PIPA.  Poke around and I hope you find something to keep bringing you back.

Please, please, please help me!

I am in day four thousand of fighting with the template of my blog.  It is getting rather demoralizing.

I have managed to do a lot of things fairly easily, I picked a new template, went through several different colors til I decided on this one and then I had to go through matching the colors through out the blog because I didn't use any of the pre-chosen color swatch things they have. Because I'm stubborn like that.  Or stupid.  You pick.  I also had Adam take the picture for the header.  Well, several different pictures, poses, etc.  Then I edited my favorite until I got the perfect header!  Woo!

I also added the Facebook button that links to my new Fondant is Gross Facebook Page, the Twitter button to my own Twitter feed, a button for my RSS feed and one so you can email me.  I changed the fonts and sizes also.

One problem is that I can't get the picture, or my Blog Title and Description to do what I want.  I want the picture to be stretched out across the top so it is even with the tab menu and I want the title of the blog along the bottom, on the left.  Or at least the knowledge of how to align it vertically until I'm happy with it.

So, please, if you can help me with the HTML and CSS so I can get those things to work, I would really, really appreciate it.  I'll even give you a whole post worshipping your mad programming skillz, or let you plug your mad skillz yourself if you like. Or both.

This is the last thing that I want to do to it and I cannot get it to work!! ARGH!

PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I RIP ALL MY HAIR OUT!!!

I am crazy. Absolutely insane.

Recently (3 days ago) I set a goal for myself to walk at least 5K (3.1 miles) every day.  And I am proud to say that I have managed to do that every day since I started.  Yay!  I also am training to ride a century and I go to yoga twice a week.  But, today a new challenge arose when a friend asked me if I was planning on running any 5K races soon.

I told her I wasn't planning on doing more running until after cycling season was over, but if she found a 5K to run together before that, I would start earlier.

This begs the question: what the hell is the matter with me?!

With everything I'm doing otherwise, how can I do 5K training too?

But I am considering it, I even have the Couch to 5K Program page open right now and my calendar to add the training in as a separate calendar so I'd have it for reference on my phone.  And, conveniently enough, the week after we do our century ride in which entrance fees go to breast cancer research and League of Michigan Bicyclists, is the Capitol City River Run Half Marathon and CCRR Cooley Law School 5K for Education.  We have to drive a bit to get to the century ride and the 5K is right here in Lansing, so, I'd like to do it, even though my friend is already signed up to do the half marathon section of the race.

I've participated in the Weight Watchers Walk-it 5K day in the past (twice, this year and last), but I'd like to do an "official" race where I get a number an everything.

Again, what is the matter with me?!  I'm actually thinking about doing a 5K, where I would have to train 3 days a week, on top of the 6 days a week I'm training for the century?  And yoga.  But it certainly would push me to the 5K every day faster.

I am nuts. Crazy. Whacko.

There is a reason professional athletes are professional athletes, training is so time consuming!

And I have a lot of thinking, deciding and planning to do... yeesh.

WHAT DO I WRITE ABOUT?!

I was in the shower this evening and my brain was flipping through ideas to write about.

*Side Note* Five hour energy commercials suck and I am tired of seeing them!  THEY ARE LAME.  GO WINGS.

Anyway, I couldn't decide about what to write about.  I could write about all kinds of things, and the problem is that I was going to tell you all the ideas I had.  But I am so one tracked once I decide to write about, I blocked everything else from my brain.

So, I landed on something that Adam and I were talking about tonight when we were being grown ups and talking and being all gooey and relationship-y and I had childhood flashbacks. Or something.

Hang on, I need to make a grocery list before I forget stuff I keep forgetting.

K, I'm back.  Sorry, but I keep forgetting to buy more ketchup.  Not normally problematic, but I like ketchup on my eggs and Adam likes to surprise me with eggs and bacon some mornings.  Like this morning.  I also like to be prepared.

What was I saying?  Right, issues.  I have a myriad (love that word) of issues, I think, anyway and many of my friends will say God, yes she does!  This issue I want to talk about because I can NOT be the only person who has this problem.

Ye who have been here before know that I am trying to lose weight to be healthy and stuff.  And because I am vain.  The first step to healing or whatever is admitting you have a problem.  And I have discovered I have a deep-seated tendency that is like hard-wired in my brain or something that makes me have to EAT-ANYTHING-DELICIOUS-NOW-BECAUSE-I-LIVE-WITH-SOMEONE-ELSE-AND-THEY-WILL-EAT-IT-BEFORE-I-GET-TO-HAVE-ANY-MORE!!!!

I can't seem to remember that when I start shoving nomilicious ice cream in my gaping maw.  It flies out of my head that I don't have to eat the entire carton now, because Adam is not as obsessed with freaking awesome French Silk Ice Cream, which is, by the way, a light ice cream and delicious.  (I love commas)

I also seem to forget that I am also in charge of making the grocery list, so when I finally chomp through the THREE cartons of French Silk I have in my freezer, I CAN BUY MORE.  It's like food taunts me or something.  Maybe it's because I grew up with 2 brothers and they would and still do eat everything in freaking sight and I married the freaking bottomless pit.  Which is how I regained all the weight I lost before I met him, trying to match him in eating so he wouldn't think I was a wuss.  GOD!

I have to conquer this because if I don't break the freaking plateau I've been on for the last five months, I'm going to lose my marbles.  Or the remainder of the ones I managed hang on to when I fell off the monkey bars in elementary school.

I basically think that I have some sort of impulsive eating thing that starts the second deliciousness hits my taste buds.  And it doesn't matter how full I am I MUST HAVE MORE OF GRANDMA'S PISTACHIO PUDDING, IT IS SO DELICIOUS.  I am working on controlling this tendency.  Like tonight, I had a half cup of delicious French Silk Ice Cream (you get it at Kroger by the way) and I was using the last of my points on it.  Which is fine we ate dinner at 7:30p so it was late and I needed to stop eating soon.  But after I ate that half cup in my teeny glass that I use to try and control portion size, my brain started doing that sneaky thing where I look at the empty glass and they team up and start saying things like, "You know you want more." and "Come on, a little more won't totally screw up your points for the week."

"But you will!" I told it tonight.  "You will make me eat all the ice cream in the freezer if I don't just stop after one.  And you will still be there tomorrow and the next day and the next day and for many days after that because there are THREE CARTONS IN THE FREEZER YOU MORON DON'T DO IT!"

So I didn't.  I'm so proud of me.

Now I made myself hungry and I want to go to bed.  And we're out of oranges.

Frick.

--------
P.S. French Silk Ice Cream and Grandma's Pistachio Pudding were only examples.  They are delicious.  And therefore worth mentioning.

P.P.S. So is Angel's Pasta Salad.

P.P.P.S. And Egg Rolls.

HUNGRYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

I am blogging under the stress of being hungry.

I'm irrational.

STAAAAARVING!!!

I may also be exaggerating.

Yes, I have eaten lunch.  I had a taco, two oranges and (LIGHT) ice cream. Yum, yum, yum! French Silk! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

Anyway!  This was after I worked out (Legs and Back - P90X) aaaaaaand I thought I would be good for awhile.

WRONG.

I got out of the bath tub and soaking my fatigued muscles and being clean (I hadn't showered in several days, I'll wait while you gag.  I promise I faithfully applied deodorant every day).  And guess what.  I WAS HUNGRY.

But I had only eaten like, an hour ago.

I'm delirious.

So I ate another orange.

Still hungry.  But I don't want ruin my dinner.  My mother would never like that, like ever.  She'd yell at me and stuff.

Uggggghhhh!  I want food.  FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD!!!!!!

You know, the last time I was this loopy was when I had to buy textbooks a few days ago.  CA-CHING!  I think I bounced around the apartment for an hour after I completed the purchase on half.com/amazon.com.

Textbooks are expensive.  One class. 10 books.  If I bought them at the bookstore, just that one class would have cost $100! 100?!?!?!  EW.  But I bought them on Amazon.  And half.com.  Can I just graduate and not have to buy textbooks anymore?!

Where was I?  Oh yeah.  I'm LOOPY.

And hungry.

Right.  Foraging is good.  I think I will eat an early dinner.  Whether Adam is hungry or not.

HA!

Delirium.
